Thursday 2nd April Castle Drogo

A national trust property and the UK's newest castle built betwen 1910 and 1930 - with a leaky roof and needing repairs costing £11m.

Beautiful gardens...

...and an impressive looking building.  Well worth a visit.

The building is situated overlooking the gorge on the River Teign with spectacular views across Darmoor.  We took the path down from the castle to the footpath which runs along the top of the gorge and walked along to the path leading out Hunters Tor (264).

Looking up the valley to Sharp Tor.

Back then along the path...

...past the heather...

...to Sharp Tor (265)
