Wednesday 2nd January Hen Tor

All change again today and back to the more normal weather for Dartmoor with thick fog covering the moor.

We parked next to the River Plym where, surprisingly quickly, the flow had gone back to normal after a few days without any rain.

The bank here has been washed away.

Then up the track which leads to Trowlesworthy Warren House and over to the leat...

...where we found a sheep which had got stuck in the leat.  Jon and Mike pulled it out and off it went!

We continued along the leat to the junction with Spanish Lake.

And then set off through the gloom to... Hen Tor.

On the way back at this boundary post....

..Jon found a letter box - the book had been in there for 6 years and was in excellent condition.

Next across to Great Trowlesworthy Tor.

Then down past these abandoned quarry workings. - a long time ago some people must have spent hours shaping these lumps of granite.

On to the Royal Oak at Meavy where Anne was waiting having missed the start of the walk. With Jon, John, Mike and Stella.
