We headed up to the Carin near Kings Oven in a strong wind and a morning of ever changing weather and light. Our route was to take us over to Assycombe Hill in one of the heaviest hail storms ever.
Fortunately it didn't last for long, the sky quickly cleared and we had this view across to Kestor Rock.
Soon we were in the forest and out of the strong wind - a couple of deer crossed in front of us but were much too fast for my camera.
Down the long track to the reservoir and...
...into the bird hide which with the shutters closed was much cleaner than the last time we were here. We stopped for a hot drink but there were no birds to observe.
Back to the road following it the short distance to the end and observing a heron in the distance. We took the track out which took us past Tom's Hill. The patchwork of forest with trees of different ages.
Just the odd splash of sunshine...
...and on to the edge of the forest...
...with more water than the moor can cope with.
Back into the strong wind we followed the edge of the forest around to Assycombe Hill....
...with the sunshine dancing over Postbridge.
Finally the sun come out as we headed down to the Warren House Inn for lunch.
